Diary of a humble man
In times when life was simpler
A humble man was born
When virtues such as love of God,
Family and country were the norm
The harshness of his early years
With toil and tribulations rife,
A passionate love he came to know
That would forever shape his life
And life would impart wisdom
A trait he would hold dear
In years to come he’d get to see
Life’s mysteries more clear
Holding steadfast to his beliefs,
Charging his fledglings to stand tall
Exalting them to scale new heights
To always give their one and all
Throughout the years his legend grew,
And the once young, parents became
Mere words once, would now resonate
And lend more credence to his name
And thanks he’d give to his loved God
For all the blessings he received
For country, family and friends
And the wondrous life that he had lived
Now in the twilight of his years
His life reflecting in the skies
The humble man would bow his head
A twinkle in his aging eyes
